Chilean Rose Hair (Grammostola rosea)

This is one of the most popular species of tarantula.  This is usually the species most beginners start out with.  They can be found readily and cheaply in pet stores, and are one of the most docile species. 

This particular species can be rather strange at times.  Sometimes it will act like a pet rock and rarely move. The rose hair is also known to go on long fasts, apparently for no reason. They may not eat for months. 

This is one of the best beginner species.
