A tarantula will eat anything that is about half of it’s size. Most people will feed their tarantulas crickets as their primary food source. Only feed you tarantula one or two crickets at a time because they can stress the tarantula out if you have tons of crickets running around the cage. A tarantula will not overeat, so feed your tarantula as often as it will eat.
Some tarantulas eat more than others. For example, the Chilean rose hair has been know to go without food for almost a year.
A tarantula will not eat a few weeks before a molt and usually a few days afterwards. Do not be alarmed, tarantulas can go very long times without eating.
Take extra caution to make sure that the prey has not been contaminated with pesticides or any chemicals.
